Tracked mini dumpers and powered wheelbarrows with petrol or diesel engine

DELEKS® tracked motorised mini dumpers and wheelbarrows are designed to carry heavy loads on ground where wheels sink or slip: building sites, vineyards, woodland, farms and rough or muddy terrain. Rubber tracks spread the weight, provide traction and limit damage to the ground. The range includes models with petrol or diesel engines, load capacities from 300 to 800 kg, mechanical gear or hydrostatic transmission and several loading solutions: tipping dumper body, high tip for loading trucks and containers, swivel body for side unloading and dedicated bodies for logs and long materials. CE conformity, technical support and express spare parts directly from DELEKS®.

Tracked motorised wheelbarrow: how to choose the right one

Compared with an electric model, a tracked motorised mini dumper offers more load capacity, unlimited range with refuelling and traction even in mud. Four aspects matter most when choosing the right model: transmission, operating position, type of body and engine.

1. Mechanical or hydrostatic transmission

  • Mechanical gearbox (usually 3 forward gears and 1 reverse, with indicative speeds of 2, 4 and 6 km/h): simple, sturdy and inexpensive to maintain. Ideal for occasional use or regular routes.
  • Hydrostatic: speed is adjusted continuously with the levers, without changing gear. It offers more precise manoeuvres in tight spaces, smoother starts and stops and better control downhill. It is the choice for professional and intensive use.

2. Walk-behind or ride-on platform
On the more compact models the operator walks behind the machine and steers it from the handlebar. Professional hydrostatic models have an operator platform: you work on board, standing up, with less fatigue on long routes and during full working days.

3. Type of body

  • Tipping dumper: the most versatile, for soil, gravel, sand and rubble. Tipping can be manual or hydraulic.
  • High tip: the body lifts before tipping, to unload directly onto trucks, skips or raised containers.
  • 180° swivel: the body rotates hydraulically and unloads to the right, left or front without moving the machine. Useful along excavations, trenches and narrow paths.
  • Body for logs and long materials: with open or extendable sides, for logs, bundles, planks and tools.

4. Engine: petrol or diesel
Petrol engines, from 6.5 to 13.5 hp, are light, inexpensive and easy to start, with electric key start on the larger models. A diesel engine offers more torque at low revs and copes better with many hours of work a day. The consumption stated in the data sheets is about 1 litre per hour.

5. Tracks and ground
Rubber tracks provide grip on mud, sand, grass and rough surfaces, and are much less aggressive than steel tracks on paving and lawns. On delicate lawns it is best to avoid turning on the spot, which can tear the turf.

6. Safety and slopes
Tracks improve traction but do not make the machine immune to tipping over: stability depends on the load and the ground. Always travel in a straight line uphill and downhill, do not stop across the slope and never stand between the machine and the downhill side. The slope limits of each model are given in the operating manual.

Which mini dumper is best for a building contractor working many hours a year?

For heavy-duty and continuous work, such as loading building materials, demolition or earthmoving, the most suitable model is the DELEKS® M8000-K: a professional hydrostatic mini dumper with a Kubota diesel engine, 800 kg load capacity, operator platform and high tip. The diesel engine offers more torque and a longer service life over many hours of work a year, the hydrostatic transmission makes manoeuvres on site precise and the high tip lets you load trucks directly. If material has to be deposited along excavations and trenches, the version with a 180° swivel body is the better choice.

Is mechanical or hydrostatic transmission better?

A mechanical gearbox is simpler and cheaper, and is fine for occasional use. Hydrostatic transmission adjusts speed continuously, is more precise when manoeuvring and gives more control downhill: it is the right choice for long working hours or tight spaces.

What is an operator platform and when is it useful?

It is a platform the operator stands on while working, instead of walking behind the machine. It reduces fatigue on long routes and during continuous use, and is typical of professional hydrostatic mini dumpers.

Can a tracked mini dumper be used in the mountains or in woodland?

Yes: rubber tracks provide good grip on rough, muddy or leaf-covered ground. The safety rules always apply, however: load suited to the slope, travel in a straight line, no stopping across the slope and the operator never downhill of the machine. The limits of each model are given in the operating manual.

Can the swivel body rotate while driving?

No. Rotation is used with the machine stationary, to unload in the desired direction. During transport the body stays locked in position so as not to shift the centre of gravity.

How much fuel does a motorised mini dumper use?

The consumption stated in the data sheets is about 1 litre of fuel per hour. It varies with the load, the ground and the use of the hydraulic system.

What maintenance does a tracked mini dumper need?

Regular checks of engine oil and air filter, cleaning and tensioning of the tracks, greasing of moving parts and, on hydrostatic models, checking the hydraulic oil. The exact intervals are given in the operation and maintenance manual of each model.

How do you transport a tracked mini dumper?

On a trailer or van with loading ramps rated for the weight of the machine, which ranges from about 180 to over 800 kg depending on the model. Drive up and down the ramps in a straight line and unloaded, and secure the machine with straps before setting off.

Do rubber tracks damage lawns or paving?

They spread the weight over a large surface and are much less aggressive than steel tracks. On delicate lawns, however, avoid turning on the spot, and take care on tight turns over high-quality paving.

Can a motorised mini dumper be used indoors?

No: the exhaust fumes of the combustion engine make use in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces dangerous. For greenhouses, stables, warehouses and indoor areas, battery-powered electric wheelbarrows are the right solution.
